KHOU 11 photojournalist Mike Orta was rolling when Browns linebacker Tony Fields II tossed a ball into the crowd. That came right after Fields notched his first career interception, a pick-six off a tipped pass from Texans quarterback Kyle Allen.

The latest version of New Star Soccer is ruddy ace. We named it recently in our best football apps and best football video games of all time. Almost all of the FourFourTwo team have bashed away at it during an idle bus/train/ferry/horse ride.

Despite the lower flaring core, the strong nature of this cover gave us our best reaction on our heavy test pattern. All three testers started with straighter angles through the front and let the ball do all the work getting back to the pocket. They were all able toContinue Reading...

Notable: The Colts' first significant mistake came on a Houston field goal attempt early in the second period. Instead of conceding the 32-yard kick, the visitors were flagged for an illegal formation, giving the Texans a first down at the 9. Two plays later, Andre Johnson beat Greg Toler in the right corner of the end zone for a 24-7 trimming. On the next play from scrimmage, Luck had a pass tipped by Jared Crick and the ball landed in the hands of Justin Tuggle. Three plays later, Arian Foster slipped through the left side for a 12-yard touchdown. All of a sudden, NRG Stadium was alive and so was its football team. Still 8:22 remained in the quarter, and it was 24-14. Luck settled his team with a 15-play, 62-yard drive that included seven consecutive running plays to chew up the clock before Adam Vinatieri hit his 18thconsecutive field goal, his longest streak as a Colt. He also moved into fourth place in NFL points, passing John Carney.

Notable: With 6 minutes remaining, Foster ran 2 yards for a touchdown that drew the Texans within 27-21. It was gut-check time, and the Colts responded. Luck led the offense 80 yards in seven plays, throwing a punt-like ball to Hilton for a 33-yard touchdown. Alas, breathing room. Curiously, coach Chuck Pagano opted to attempt the two-point conversion with 2:52 left in the quarter. It failed as Hilton was dragged down on a receiver sweep, and the Texans weren't dead. Damaris Johnson hauled in a 40-yard Fitzpatrick throw to advance the ball to the Colts 25. All of a sudden, not even a 33-21 lead seemed safe.

Notable: Blame the snap, blame the quarterback. Regardless, the ball bounced away from Luck and J.J. Watt pounced on it. Without being touched, Watt rolled over, got up and ran. Forty-five yards later, the Texans had a surprising touchdown and were within 33-28. The officials got in the middle of the Colts' next drive, with a pass interference bailing them out of a third-and-13 predicament. Three plays later, Reggie Wayne appeared to have snagged a diving first down, but the ball was ruled incomplete, forcing a punt. Houston made a strong push to midfield, but Andre Johnson was flagged for pass interference on Toler, who had inside position. Two plays later, Johnson had the ball come loose on a catch and run (Vontae Davis got a hand in there), with Mike Adams recovering the fumble. A review confirmed the call on the field. The Colts did just enough to win the game from there, Bjoern Werner forcing a Fitzpatrick fumble on a sack.

Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills (10) makes an adjustment before snapping the ball against the Los Angeles Rams during the second quarter of an NFL game at NRG Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021, in Houston.

Coach David Culley said the problem was partly that the Texans, down 24-0 at halftime, were predictably in a situation in which they needed to throw the ball. The Rams applied pressure, and the Texans were unable to protect against it.

Brooks Kubena, a Houston native, joined the Chronicle in 2021 to cover the Texans after reporting on LSU football for The Advocate Times-Picayune in Baton Rouge for three years. Kubena has received APSE National Top 10 honors eight times for his reporting, which includes his beat writing coverage during the 2022 season. 041b061a72
